After Lateefat left him due to domestic violence, a man named Ponle Adebanjo burned her to death.

MEDIA discovered that the event took place on Saturday in Ogun State's Otun-Akute region.

According to reports, the woman had four kids from a prior relationship before she met the suspect.

The event was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police public relations officer.

The following was stated in the statement: "The suspect was detained on Saturday after concerned neighbors informed the Otun-Akute division about the event.

According to reports, Ponle, the estranged husband, told numerous locals that his wife shouldn't have to live alone and pledged that no other guy would ever be with her again.

"Mr. Ponle allegedly went to his ex-home wife's and threatened to kill her if she did not come back to his house.

"Their neighbors revealed that the man beat the woman frequently, sometimes to the brink of death. The woman was reportedly hospitalized frequently as a result of their arguments, and after renting an apartment on the same block a month ago, she made the decision to leave his home.

According to a police spokesperson, the suspect stalked Lateefat, who repeatedly steered clear of him.

Last Thursday, he allegedly went to her residence and threatened to burn her alive as she ran away.

On Saturday night, Mr. Ponle returned to the victim's home and encountered her in prayer. He doused her in gasoline and set her flame inside the room, but she was able to clutch onto something. Grab him so that they would burn together until help arrived. The woman was pronounced dead at a neighboring hospital after they were brought there, Oyeyemi continued.

The PPRO reported that the subject was subsequently turned over to police.

When MEDIA group phoned the police on Sunday for an update, the spokesperson confirmed that the male had also passed away.

"The male passed away sunday morning, while the woman died on Saturday.  The woman's child's leg was also burned by the fire, he continued.
